Award winning author visits Dixons

Jamila Gavin, award winning author of the Whitbread Children's Book of the Year for Coram Boy, recently visited Dixons City Academy.

Jamila talked to students about her childhood growing up in India and England during the last days of British rule and the creation of the new state of Pakistan.

She spoke to Y7 & 8 students about the inspiration and themes of her books and ran a creative writing workshop for Y11 & Y12 students. She also found time to sign copies of her books for students in the library at lunchtime.
